Ranveer Singh is all set to play legendary Indian cricket captain Kapil Dev in a biopic which will be helmed by Kabir Khan. Trade guru Taran Adarsh on Monday morning shared the news on his Twitter account.
Taran tweeted, “#BreakingNews: Ranveer Singh will turn cricketer #KapilDev in Kabir Khan’s sports-based film… #1983 #WorldCup.” The tweet also revealed that the biopics will be around the 1983 Cricket World Cup which India won. Kapil Dev, the then Indian cricket team captain, lifted the World Cup at the majestic Lords’ in London. India played West Indies in the finals and beat the World Champs to get the coveted trophy home for the first time.
Kapil Dev is an inspiration to many and thus it will be interesting to see how well Ranveer Singh portrays the former captain on screen.
Meanwhile, Ranveer Singh will be seen next in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Padmavati’. He will play Alauddin Khilji in the much-awaited period drama, which will hit screens on December 1, 2017.
