The Australian edged out Philipp Kohlschreiber 6-5 in the final set of the match as he bounced back from losing alongside Marcelo Melo in the doubles clash against Kohlschreiber and Leander Paes.
Thomas Enqvist had given the Warriors a dream start with a 6-2 win over Carlos Moya in the legends’ singles tie but Dustin Brown and Karolina Pliskova teamed up to beat Paes and Kirsten Flipkens 6-4 in the mixed doubles.
The women’s singles was won 6-1 by Belinda Bencic of the Slammers as Flipkens lost her second tie of the match.
